about

Semiotix, Tycaine, and Meecha return to Tytanium Armour Recordings with an E.P. stacked with original releases and remixes from the label’s back catalogue.

The opening track is a collaboration between all three artists. Metamorph revolves around an apocalyptic descending arpeggio, first appearing in the introduction and later being interpellated by a vicious reese bass.

Meecha provides the first solo track of the release, Infestation. Rapid fire kicks and a metallic snare are arranged with unrelenting syncopation and juxtaposed against a bassline formed around a twisted 808. Label boss Tycaine supplies the next. Knock Off combines fragmented drums, a fluid bassline, and a detuned lead, combining elements of early and late 00’s neurofunk. Tempest comes courtesy of Semiotix, and is as turbulent as the title suggests. An extended 4x4 kick roll transitions into a kick-filled drop complete with a weighty call and response bassline, whilst a halftime switch on the second drop adds another layer of filth to an already dirty tune.

The first of three remixes of tunes taken from the Tytanium Armour Recordings back catalogue is the Semiotix remix of Universe. Originally produced by Meecha, a hefty bassline and alternating halftime and common time phrases make for a tune guaranteed to cause some damage through a sound system. Tycaine remixes The Signal (originally by Semiotix), injecting a complex kick pattern into a hypnotic bassline full of energy movement. Electrifying effects and shuffling drums drive levels higher and higher in this neurofunk stomper. Meecha’s remix of Razortech closes the release. Tycaine’s tune is reimagined with chopped breaks, a syncopated snare pattern, and rumbling 808s, echoing the jungle-tinged energy of early techstep whilst adding a modern twist.
